Description
The Santa Cruz Bay Tour (No Lobería) is a half-day coastal experience designed to showcase the most iconic natural and geological sites around Puerto Ayora, without including a stop at the Lobería. This tour combines short navigation, scenic walks, and snorkeling in calm, clear waters, making it an excellent option for travelers with limited time who still want a meaningful Galápagos experience.
The journey begins with a short boat ride through the bay, offering panoramic views of volcanic coastlines, natural channels, and coastal formations. Along the way, your guide provides interpretation about tides, currents, and the volcanic origin of Santa Cruz Island.
After disembarking, the tour continues with a guided walk across volcanic rock trails toward Las Grietas, a striking geological formation created by natural fractures in the lava. Here, you’ll have time to swim or snorkel in brackish waters known for their high visibility, depending on tide and sea conditions.
Next, you visit the historic Salt Mines, where your guide explains the traditional use of these pools and their connection to local history. The experience concludes at Playa de los Alemanes, a small and peaceful beach ideal for relaxing, swimming, and photography before returning to Puerto Ayora.
The itinerary may be adjusted to optimize tide conditions and visitor flow, always prioritizing safety and conservation.
