Isabela Island Day Trip Itinerary
Departure Time: 07:00 a.m.
Meeting Point: Main Pier – Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island
Ferry Duration: Approximately 2 hours
Destination: Puerto Villamil, Isabela Island
Important: The sea crossing can be bumpy. We recommend taking motion sickness medication at least 30 minutes before boarding.
Arrival in Isabela Island
Upon arrival at Puerto Villamil, our staff and a local guide will be waiting for you. You’ll have a few minutes to use the restrooms before beginning the day’s adventure.
Visit to Tintoreras Islet
The tour starts with a visit to Tintoreras Islet, a place of great natural beauty and rich wildlife. Here, you’ll have the chance to see:

White-tip reef sharks (known locally as “tintoreras”) resting in crystal-clear water channels

Galápagos penguins

Blue-footed boobies
We’ll finish this visit with a snorkeling session from a small beach, ideal for observing marine life in its natural environment.

After the morning activity, we’ll head to a local restaurant for a delicious lunch (included).
Visit to the Wetlands
Next, we explore the Isabela Wetlands, home to one of the largest mangrove ecosystems in the Galápagos. This key transition zone between land and sea offers sightings of:

Tortoise Breeding Center
Our final stop is the Arnaldo Tupiza Breeding Center, where you’ll learn about the Galápagos National Park’s conservation efforts. The center houses around 330 giant tortoises, both juveniles and adults, including critically endangered species like those from Cerro Paloma.
